How's it going for you? Have you learned new things about God, about yourself about others? When you first started this Awakening, you began with enthusiasm and a vision of what God might do during this time in your life.Have you kept your fast? Is it getting long?
Let me encourage you to not give up. Perhaps you have broken your fast before you planned to. Does that mean you've failed? Does that make God mad? Don't give up! You began with good intentions, God has been blessed by your efforts. Now is a good time to recommit yourself to your fast. God knows we are not perfect, but keep on doing what God has called you to do.
I wanted to share some of my own experiences so far.Personally I have been blessed most of all by the 21 day devotional that we distributed on the 10th. I have written some ideas or a prayer on the lines at the end of the devotional. I have also had a journal which allowed me to write longer prayers, thoughts and ideas. This has allowed me to get out some things that are running around inside of me.
One question that occurred to me. What do you do with the pain? Whatever form your fast is taking, whether from food or an activity if you have given up something precious to you (which you should have done) there will be pain. You will miss that food or activity. IT'S GONNA HURT.
What do you do with that headache, or grumbling stomach, or that desire to take part in what you have given up? Tell God this is a gift I am giving to you. Lord you are more important to me than this is.
We are fasting to align ourselves with God. As you give up something it is not about being punished. It is about telling God you are more important to me than this is.
Another part of your fast is spending more time with God. When I skip a meal, I try to spend that mealtime with God. When I have given up an activity that formerly seemed so important, I give it to God. Lord you are more important than that computer game, or TV show. Or Lord I need your help to overcome this thing that takes me away from you.
My spiritual time with God has been deeper over the past 11 days. Knowing that you are joining me in this has brought me strength. We are seeking God together. We are asking God to move in mighty ways. We are calling out saying Lord we cannot make it without you.
As I hear about and see the devastation in Haiti I approach this tragedy differently. I have tremendous sorrow but I am also begging for a move of the spirit among the people there and those coming to help them.
Thanks for being on this journey with me.
