February is church-wide “I Love Sunday School” month.
I personally think every month is “I Love Sunday School”
in the Preschool Department. I simply adore seeing my
kids run down the hallway toward my gate. I love the
smiles and the genuine happiness on their face and in
their eyes.
The top 10 phrases most commonly heard first thing
Sunday mornings are:
- Where’s Erik?
- Where’s GrannyDan?
- When is snack?
- Where’s the fire truck I played with last Sunday?
- I need to go to the bathroom.
- I’m starving.
- Can I sit in your chair?
- I’m thirsty.
- I love you
- Guess what? (I hear that one a lot)
These common phrases just reinforce my belief that
the children in the Preschool Department are there
each Sunday because they love Sunday School. This is
the “set aside” time that the children can ask 47
questions and know they will get an answer. They know
they can play and learn and feel comfortable asking
these questions. They know the Bible stories they are
hearing and they are forming their personal foundation
for the rest of their lives … this starts in Sunday
School. I know they won’t remember the snacks and
I know toys get old and break. I know that priorities
change when a child grows but it is my wish that these
children can walk by my gate years from now and know
that, for some of them, their spiritual journey started
right there.
Lots of activities are happening in the month of
February…keep an eye on the calendar .….the Preschool
Department will be open and available.
See you at my gate …………………. GeorgeAnn
